Tunisia :

Visit the north of this country :

- Dougga, an UNESCO world heritage centre: it is the best preserved Roman small town in North Africa and visitors can have an idea about everyday life in antiquity.

Visit the centre of the country :

- Kairouan, an UNESCO world heritage centre : it remains the Maghreb's principal holy city. Visitors can admire the rich architectural heritage of this city like the Great Mosque (with its marble and porphyry columns) and the 9th-century Mosque of the Three Gates.
- The Amphitheatre of El Jem, an UNESCO world heritage centre : the ruins of the largest colosseum in North Africa illustrate the grandeur of Imperial Rome in The 3rd-century.

Visit the south :

- The oases and the medina of Tozeur : discover the remarkable architecture of Tozeur , beige sun baked bricks set in geometric patterns, Moorish arches and high vaulted ceilings… Then, go to the shops to buy souvenirs like Berber jewels.
- Matmata, the location for disco scene in the first Star Wars film : discover the troglodytes houses.
- Jerba, the island visited by Ulysse in the Odyssey : in addition to swim, go to its main city to discover square whitewashed houses and mosques built in a distinct style, soft walls and corners.


Egypt :

In Egypt, you will always find new sites to visit and enjoy.

- In Cairo : The Pyramids of Giza, The Great Sphinx, The Temples of Abu Simble, The Egyptian Museum, The Citadel of Saladin (EL-Qala), the Sultan Hassan Mosque, Ahmed Ibn Tulun Mosque…Then discover the Khan EL Khalili Bazaar, one of the most interesting bazaar in the whole Middle East.
At 20 kilometres to the south of Cairo, you can discover The open air-museum of Memphis.
-In the south of Cairo, there is the Fayoum region. Here, there is an UNESCO world heritage centre : Wadi Al-Hitan (Whale Valley). This site contains precious fossil. It indicates the evolution of the whales and their emergence as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a land-based animal.
- In Assiut, visit The Necropolis of Assiut, situated in the western hills. Then, go to Deir Al Muharraq (The Burnt Monastery): it resembles a group of forts and strongholds. Within the complex, there is an unforgettable church built in the year 1600.
- Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes is one of those places you must see : visit the Luxor temple, The Karnak Temple, The Temple of Deir El-Bahri …
- In Aswan city, discover the archaeological monuments as The unfinished Obelisk, Temples of Philae, Temples of Abu Simble and in south of Aswan, the Temple of Kalabsha.
The local market is a very good place to do your holiday shopping, especially as you will find the best types of fresh spices here.
Then, go to the Kitchener Island, situated in the middle of the Nile. It contains more than eight hundred specimen palms, tamarisk and other rare botanical specimens. It covers an area of about 18 acres.
- In Alexandria, visit The Qaitbay Citadel, The Amphitheatre of Kom-El-Dikka (a Roman Amphitheatre) and The Greco -Roman Museum. Don’t forget to admire The beautiful Oasis of Kharga.
About 60 kilometres southwest of Alexandria, there is Abu Mena (an UNESCO world heritage centre). It consisted of a complex of churches with pilgrim centre : visit the Baptistery, the Basilica of Arcadius’ ruins, The church, the monasteries…
- In Marsa Matruh, go to see The Ancient City of Abu Sir (Taposiris).
This site (located near Alexandria) includes a temple dedicated to the cult of Osiris. Its walls are well preserved.
You can also see The Cave of Rommel. It is hollowed out of the rock in Marsa Matruh and was used the German Field Marshal Rommel. It is now a museum of memorabilia from the Second World War.
- In Fayoum, you can visit the Keman Faris, an ancient city built during the fifth Dynasty. During the Hellenistic Period, the name was changed to Crocodilopolis, and later to Arsinoe during the Ptolemaic period.
Discover also the Karanis, a Roman site. The city contains a Roman bath house and two temples dedicated to the god, Sobek.
- In Minya, visit Tel El Amarna where Akhenaton chose this site as his capital during a period of religious revolution. This site contains a number of tombs.
- In Sinai, go to Sharm EL-Sheik (ideal place for open water diving), Niewaba (visit the Colored Canyon) and climb the Mount Sinai.
- In Sohag, visit The temple of Seti I, situated at the site of Abydos, which is regarded as one of the most important archaological sites in Egypt. It is considered among the most beautiful Egyptian temples. It has two halls of columns; the first with carved reliefs, and the second with designs in painted relief.


Syria :

In the southern provinces :

- In Damascus : visitors can discover The Ommayad Mosque, The Azem Palace (in the old city), The Damascus Citadel, The National Museum and of course the Souqs.
- Some 145 kilometers south of Damascus, it is situated Bosra where you can visit the Roman theatre built in the second century A.C.
- In south-east of Damascus, about 90 kilometers, there is Shahba. Admire the numerous palaces and temples, the triumphal arches and public baths, the theatre.
- Going some 90 km south-east of Damascus, you arrive in Sweida. Ruins of ancient civilisations are numerous : ruins of a 3rd century Roman temple surrounded by a colonnade of Corinthian columns. A collection of exquisite mosaics discovered in 1962, are now housed in the Sweida museum.

In the MidWest provinces :

- Visit Homs at 160 kilometers to the north of Damascus and discover the mosque of Khaled Ibn al-Walid, the great commander of the Muslim Arab armies. Visit also the churches like The church of St.Elian (unique for its collection of fine frescoes discovered in 1970) and The Nuri mosque distinguished for its beautiful entrance.
- At 210 kilometers northeast of Damascus, there is Palmyra where you can visit the Baal temple, the Arch of Triumph, the amphitheatre, the baths, the 'Straight Street' and the Congress Council.
- At 200 km to the north of Damascus, there is Hama, a very ancient city. Visit the Great Mosque (al-Jami' al-Kabir).
- At 55 km to the northwest of Hama, there is Apamea. Most of the uncovered ruins in this city date back to the Roman and Byzantine ages.
- Lattakia is Syria's main sea-port on the Mediterranean. After swiming, you can visit there, columns and a Roman arch from the time of Septimus Severus (circa 200 A.D.), in addition to the museum of Khan al-Dukhan (a beautiful Ottoman construction).

In the Northeastern provinces :

- Aleppo is far 350 kilometers north from Damascus. Visitors can admire the Aleppo citadel, the Souqs and commercial khans, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions…
- Deir ezzor : 320 kilometers south-east of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor is the most important urban centre in the east of Syria. 85 kilometers south of Deir Ezzor, is the archaeological site of the birthplace of Seleucus.
